It was started by "Zachery" - the guy who actually set me off on my being ripped off and to knowing many others were also burned by Dave Guardala - the person - the actual guy - Dave Guardala!

I'm writing so that word gets spread about the current state of former mouthpiece maker Dave Guardala. He has contacted dealers around the world claiming to sell vintage saxophones, but in reality he's using this as a means of getting unsuspecting people send him considerable amounts of money. He is already known by police for lodging fraud, but his whereabouts are unknown, although he claims to recide in Frankfurt, Germany. I have personal experiences of this and truly wish that this couldn't go on any longer. If anyone knows anything, please let me and everyone else know.

The responses were mixed and this thread seems to have been trashed along with so many others. The main issue with believe in these matters is as much the claims being made as the person making them.

Zachary was a new poster with no history and no posted public information. When you "consider the source" one could only think he was a fake. When I saw his general post a month later - no accusations at all - I emailed him and got the story that many had been ripped off by Guardala in this vintage sax scam. I did not want to believe it and did not write him back for a couple of weeks. When I did write back, I asked who he was and told him I don't trust 1 thread, 1 posters on a forum. He wrote back with personal info and details to his story and I knew I was screwed and he had to be telling the truth. I also realized his english was really good, but language was contributing to question in his story.

I add this post to further expalin the difficulty in getting real information out in the WWW. The information highway is littered with misinformation - I call it the misinformation highway! The drag is - all the scum that uses the web for evil has made it hard to believe anything you see online. Harsh realities in our highly advanced 21st Century world. Later post by Zachary said -

I realize it sounds harsh, but you do not have to search the web for too long to notice that everything isn't quite alright with this character. Having lost money, I also in my investigations stumbled across other similar cases. In case you are fans of his products, notice that I'm not in any way neglecting their quality or value. You can think what you want about this information, but I wouldn't be surprised if I received some replies from people with some knowledge of similar events in the past.

Now this dates back to 11-15-06. I was still sending money at this time. Bummer......................

Thanks Zachary for alerting me and probably so many other victims of Guardala's Fraud and Scamming. I have had many encourage me this past 6 weeks. I would not have been tipped off had it not been for Zachary. Thanks Zachary for posting in November, watching it get pulled, and then posting again in December. It was the December thread I found.
